Radio Speed Limit
The EUROLEISURE RADIO SPEED LIMIT SYSTEM uses a servo motor to vary the throttle stop under control from a microprocessor unit on the kart. This unit reads kart speed from a sensor fitted to the output from the engine (after the clutch) for accurate low speed control, or in the low cost version reads engine RPM from the ignition system instead. The operators' control unit sends coded radio signals to each kart to specify a maximum speed. The servo is automatically adjusted to allow easy pull away and operation up hills with the limiting only coming in as the kart reaches the set speed. Slow speed settings introduce some throttle limit at all times to reduce acceleration.
The operator's control panel contains three panic buttons. One brings all karts to a pre-set low speed (all course yellow), one brings all karts to a standstill (all course red) and the other cuts the ignition and stops all engines. On the more advanced panel, there is a keypad and alpha-numeric display, to allow system set up, and a switch for each individual kart allowing 8 speeds ranging from stopped to flat out.
The AIRKART control is integrated within this system, with the addition of 'slip level' control. Airkarts and standard karts can be mixed within the same control unit and run at the same time.
